Cara Melatih Asisten Rumah Tangga

Keuntungan panggil asisten rumah tangga tiap sabtu pagi: Jam 7 udah bangun, ikut bersih-bersih, nyalain mesin cuci, mandi, sebelum jam 10:00 udah bisa duduk manis di depan TV. The benefit of this decade. Dulu hire asisten itu mesti full-time, sekarang bisa per jam. More effective. Less drama too.

Note buat diri sendiri tentang ngajarin asisten:

  • Earn their respect not by demanding but by showing and giving examples (misalnya, waktu dia bersih-bersih, kita jemur pakaian atau nyalain mesin cuci). Kerjaan jadi lebih cepet kelar, ngga perlu bayar overtime & kita bisa milih kerjaan yg kita suka & ngasih sisanya ke dia (misalnya, gw suka jemur baju, tapi ngga suka setrika).
  • Let the person know your expectation and give compensation
  • Don’t be inconsistent, so that the person can simply “repeat” the process and work faster. If you change your expectation all the time, the person will be confused and afraid of doing something (misalnya, udah biasa taruh keset di 5 posisi, ngepel dua kali bilas, buang sampah terakhir ya lakukan terus. Jangan tau-tau minta dia buang sampah dulu, nebak posisi keset, dan lain-lain).
  • Ask the person if she has a question or not (Hari ini baru tau kl selama ini lemari gelas ngga dilap krn ngga ngerti cara buka pintunya. Di lemari ada tulisan “PUSH” tapi dia ngga ngerti artinya, jadi katanya ngga berani buka pintunya krn takut pecah. Jadi pintu2 atau laci pun mesti diajari cara bukanya).

Long-anticipated Money

Got a payment by an agency stuck for 6 months because of internal reasons. First, email, email and email reminders. Second, send WA and call. Third, send email with next step action plan. Fourth, cc email to client. Fifth, got client replied and dealt with it. A week after: payment received. Blacklisted the agency in my head.

Got my emoney card broken and unusable after 1-3 uses. My money got stuck in the card. Went to the nearest bank branch at Lotte and filed a complaint in June. Never got any updates or credit back in my account. First, went back in August to Lotte branch and followed up. No luck. Second, called the bank to follow-up again. Third, visited the Lotte branch for the 2nd time. Was promised a phone call and a follow-up by a very polite and friendly old CS staff (but she never did). I made a conclusion that she was giving BS. Fourth, went to GI branch where I got the card & complained. A young and energetic staff Rina took 2 phone calls to Lotte branch for me (and gave me water while I was waiting & playing Pokemon). She promised to take the issue and called me for an update. I told Rina that the old staff was probably not tech savvy. Two days after: Rina called me but went unanswered. She called again the next day to say that the money had been credited back into my account.

Moral of the story: 1.) When it comes to money, you gotta strive for it. Even if it’s just Rp 437,500! 2.) Don’t go to a small bank administration branch to get serious things done. 3.) Oh, and ask full payment in advance when working with a new start-up company. 4.) There is always a solution for everything. 😌 #TGIF

Why I Always Go Back to Taking Uber over Regular Taxi

My experience after riding on Express cab (after months not taking cabs and solely dependent on UBER). Taxi driver, I wanted to contribute to the “local economy” (read: YOUR economy) but you suck. It’s a common courtesy to say, “Thank you” and to give customers their change, NOT tipping yourself! Rp 7500??? Oh come on, that’s like 18% tip for your unpleasant service. Made me mad. #taksiekspress
